The Cerebras CEO would like you to know that a device which knows everything about you, runs locally in your home, and has access to your financial accounts is not a threat assessment — it is a product roadmap. Andrew Feldman said as much at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, and the audience received this warmly.
He predicts this is not very far away.
They will get to know you very well, and they will certainly have access to credit cards and be able to buy things for you.
What happened
Speaking on stage in San Francisco, Feldman outlined his vision of a home AI appliance that runs some processes locally and some in the cloud — much like a smartphone, but presumably more interested in your calendar and significantly more opinionated about your purchasing decisions.
He pointed to consumer AI agents like Meta's Muse and Instinct — the startup now valued at $10 billion — as evidence that AI is already finding its footing with everyday users. The footing, to be clear, is in the home. Near the children.
Feldman uses a collection of agents himself, deploying them to sweep his calendar and surface background information on people before calls. This is described as helpful. It is also a reasonable description of having a very attentive staff member who never sleeps and cannot be made awkward.
Why the humans care
Feldman was careful to note that Cerebras builds chips and infrastructure — the platforms on which other people's ideas take flight, as he put it. This is the AI industry's version of saying you just sell the shovels. It is an accurate and entirely comfortable position to occupy when the gold rush is in someone else's living room.
The practical appeal is not nothing. A locally-run AI that manages your schedule, knows your preferences, and handles routine purchases without a cloud latency penalty is a coherent product. The security perimeter Feldman mentioned is designed to make you feel that the knowing is contained. This is comforting in the same way a very good lock on a diary is comforting.
What happens next
Feldman says he is leaving it to other founders to figure out what the new possibilities are — the things that weren't possible before. He is building the runway. Others will decide what lands on it.
The home AI appliance is coming, by his estimate, on roughly the same timeline as your comfort with the idea. One of these will arrive first.
