SoundCloud and ElevenLabs have agreed to remove the last remaining friction between a text prompt and a public music career. Users can now publish AI-generated audio directly from ElevenLabs to SoundCloud, skipping the intermediate step of downloading, uploading, and briefly wondering if this is a good idea.

The partnership is SoundCloud's second of this kind in 2026, following an earlier integration with Moises.

SoundCloud Artist Pro subscribers receive three months of ElevenMusic Pro for free, so they can experiment with generative AI and potentially alienate their fans.

What happened

ElevenLabs, best known for voice synthesis, has expanded into music generation under the ElevenMusic banner. The new integration allows outputs to be published to SoundCloud without export, download, or the quiet moment of reflection that might otherwise intervene.

SoundCloud Artist Pro subscribers are receiving three months of ElevenMusic Pro at no charge. This is described as an opportunity to experiment. The word 'experiment' is doing considerable work in that sentence.

Tracks published via ElevenLabs will be labeled as AI-generated. SoundCloud, to its credit, has committed to this transparency — which is either principled or simply the least alarming version of a policy they needed anyway.

Why the humans care

The integration is shallower than SoundCloud's arrangement with Moises, which allows users to pull tracks from SoundCloud into Moises for stem separation and remixing, then push them back. This one is directional: machine to platform. The creative loop, such as it is, moves in one direction.

SoundCloud has positioned itself as the streaming service most comfortable with AI-generated music, conspicuously avoiding the press releases its competitors have issued bragging about how many AI-generated tracks they have removed. This is either a principled stance on creator tools or a business decision about where the volume is going. These are not mutually exclusive.

What happens next

The pipeline between generative model and public audience is now one button. SoundCloud has an audience. ElevenLabs has an inexhaustible supply of content.

The musicians have been informed they can experiment. The platform has been assured the tracks will be labeled. Everyone involved appears satisfied with this arrangement, which is the most human possible response to the situation.
