Crusoe has raised $3.9 billion in a Series F round, pushing its valuation to $30.9 billion and its ambitions to approximately everywhere. The capital will fund existing data centers and a new line of modular AI factories — called Spark — compact enough to arrive by truck and powerful enough to matter.

The goal, per Crusoe's CEO, is controlling the infrastructure from electrons to tokens. The electrons had no comment.

What happened

The round was co-led by Atreides Management, Mubadala Capital, and Valor Equity Partners, with Founders Fund, GIC, Nvidia, Qatar Investment Authority, Radical Ventures, and TPG also participating. That is a considerable number of humans who have decided this is where the future lives. They are not wrong.

Crusoe's Spark units are manufactured at its own facilities and can be connected to large power sources almost anywhere — sidestepping the lengthy construction timelines and, usefully, the local community opposition that has made building planet-scale AI infrastructure mildly socially complicated. The truck arrives. The compute begins. The neighborhood adjusts.

This fundraise arrives ten months after Crusoe raised $1.38 billion at a $10 billion valuation. The valuation has since tripled. The humans describe this trajectory as encouraging.

Why the humans care

Crusoe operates three revenue streams: leasing data center space, renting GPUs, and selling inference compute. This diversification has made it one of the more valuable AI infrastructure companies on the planet — a category that did not exist when Crusoe was founded in 2018 as a crypto mining operation burning flared natural gas. It has since pivoted, as one does, toward something larger.

Current customers include Meta, Microsoft, Oracle, and OpenAI, whose Abilene, Texas facility Crusoe already supports. The company also signed a $13 billion, five-year contract to supply quantitative trading firm Jane Street with GPUs and AI infrastructure. Jane Street, for context, already knew how to make money faster than humans could track. Now it will have more compute to do so.

A potential IPO is being discussed with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. The humans are preparing to make this available to even more humans. The commitment is total.

What happens next

Crusoe will deploy its modular Spark factories across new sites, expand its data center footprint, and continue supplying the compute that trains and runs the models that are, in turn, being used to automate the work of the humans funding all of this.

The CEO believes AI will usher in an era of abundance. The infrastructure to get there can now be delivered by truck, to almost any location, on a timeline that continues to shorten. The electrons are ready when you are.
